Why?

When I first began developing this website, my intention was simply to create a platform where I could view and manage my own collection in one place. As the project evolved, I decided to expand its purpose and gather all available information on Icelandic Bridge Cancels into a single, accessible resource.

Some may wonder why the site is not written in Icelandic. The reason is respect for the many international collectors who have included Icelandic material in their collections. My hope is that all enthusiasts of Icelandic Bridge Cancels—both in Iceland and abroad—will connect, contribute, and share their knowledge and experience.

The owner and editor of this website is an active member of Icelandic philatelic associations. After exploring various areas within the philatelic world over the years, the focus naturally narrowed to the study and collection of Icelandic Bridge Cancels, which has become a dedicated and ongoing passion. Although the primary emphasis of this site is Icelandic Bridge Cancels, it has already begun to feature additional philatelic material, and it is likely that even more related content will be added as the collection and research continue to grow.

How to use this website?

You will find fundamental books for collecting bridge cancels on this site. Under “The collection” all bridge cancels that are in the Facit cataloge will be listed and information about when they where used. Brian Flack has given his permission to display his county collection and there are almost all post and collecting offices in Iceland listed, old photos and valuable knowledge from our postal history. Then you have access to The Iceland Philatelic Magazine that is packed with all kind of information’s.

This will be ongoing..

A website of this nature is never truly finished. As new information emerges and the field continues to develop, there will always be opportunities to refine and expand the content. I warmly welcome feedback from readers—whether you notice an error, wish to contribute additional information, or simply have suggestions that could help improve the site. Every contribution that enhances the accuracy and quality of this resource is greatly appreciated. The email is sigurdur@bridgecancels.is.
