Several items presented on this website (Caritas) originate from the collection of Sarah Petersson, making it appropriate to briefly introduce one of the most respected figures in the field of Christmas Seals.
Sarah Petersson, Denmark, has long been recognized as one of Europe’s leading collectors and dealers specializing in Christmas Seals (Julemærker) and other charity labels. For many years she operated Christmas Seal Carrier, a unique specialist business devoted almost exclusively to Christmas Seals from around the world. Through her work she became well known among collectors, researchers, and dealers for her extensive knowledge and the remarkable collection she assembled over several decades.
In 2020, Sarah transferred her Christmas Seal business to VF Auktion, marking the end of a distinguished career as one of the foremost specialist dealers in this field.
More recently, she began dispersing the Icelandic section of her private collection. I was fortunate to acquire several of these items, including important material relating to Caritas, which now forms part of the collection and research presented on this website.
I am particularly pleased to have acquired a complete sheet of the 1904 Caritas issue, as surviving full sheets are considered exceptionally rare.
